The family Polycentropodidae is represented in Norway by 13 species in five genera.

The species are small to medium sized, the wings are densely covered with hairs and usually have a more or less distinct speckled pattern. The larvae inhabit both lentic (standing) and lotic (moving) waters. They construct fixed capture nets that are often funnel shaped.
